The visionary mind

Meet Dr. Roger Khouri.

Dr. Khouri wanted women to have a non-surgical alternative to traditional breast enhancement. His work helped pioneer tension-induced tissue expansion for the breast: the method that laid the foundation for BRAVA and, later, EVEBRA.

Inventor of BRAVA and EVEBRA

A surgeon, researcher and teacher.

Dr. Khouri is a board-certified plastic surgeon. His training included general surgery at the University of North Carolina, plastic surgery at Brown University, and reconstructive microsurgery and hand surgery at New York University and Harvard.

He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles and served as a Professor of Plastic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine. He lives with his wife, Dr. Susana Leal-Khouri, a pathologist and dermatologist, and their five children.

From reconstructive surgery to external expansion.

1997

Dr. Khouri published work in Annals of Surgery on breast reconstruction using TRAM free flaps.

1999

He created the BRAVA breast enhancement and shaping system. His later BRAVA + AFT work combined external expansion with autologous fat transfer in reconstruction.

Today

EVEBRA builds on BRAVA’s external tissue-expansion method with an at-home system designed for women choosing a path without surgery or implants.

Miami Breast Center

As founder of the Miami Breast Center and Miami Hand Center, Dr. Khouri brings more than 40 years of experience as a reconstructive and hand surgeon. His work has included microsurgery, breast reconstruction and fat-transfer methods.

Dr. Khouri has personally mentored more than 500 plastic surgeons from 40 countries in his techniques.

Reconstruction and fat-transfer work

Dr. Khouri’s 1997 Annals of Surgery publication described breast reconstruction with TRAM free flaps. His later work included BRAVA + AFT, liposuction and lipografting, and implant-free reconstruction after mastectomy.

Awards and professional recognition

His biography includes the Godina Lectureship in Microsurgery in 2002, recognition from EURAPS and the American Association of Plastic Surgeons in 2010, and a publication award in 2012. He has taught at more than 200 professional meetings in more than 35 countries. His Miami Breast Center biography reports that 25% of his patients work in healthcare.

Commitment to education

His courses have included live surgery demonstrations and individualized patient examinations. He was a founding member and former president of the International Society of Plastic and Regenerative Surgeons and works with the Key Biscayne Surgery Center and Miami hospitals. From BRAVA to EVEBRA

The method continued. The system evolved.

When BRAVA was no longer available, Dr. Khouri and his team of engineers designed EVEBRA as an updated version of the external tissue-expansion system.

Building on BRAVA, EVEBRA adds a soft silicone rim, a hook-and-eye bra and direct, at-home access, so women can follow the external expansion approach without surgery or implants.
