Dr. Roger Khouri

A board-certified plastic surgeon with comprehensive training in various specialties, including general surgery at the University of North Carolina, plastic surgery at Brown University, and reconstructive microsurgery and hand surgery at New York University and Harvard. Renowned for his scholarly contributions, he has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles and served as a Professor of Plastic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Khouri lives with his wife, Dr. Susana Leal-Khouri, a noted pathologist and dermatologist, and their five children.

As the founder of the Miami Breast Center and Miami Hand Center, Dr. Khouri brings over 40 years of experience as a reconstructive surgeon and hand surgeon. Honored with the Godina Lectureship in Microsurgery in 2002, he has been at the forefront of developments in reconstructive microsurgery, breast reconstruction techniques and fat transfer methods. Dr. Khouri's innovation led to the creation of the BRAVA breast enhancement and shaping system in 1999, revolutionizing breast reconstruction with the introduction of BRAVA + AFT, a novel autologous fat transfer procedure.

In 1997, Dr. Khouri's significant publication in the Annals of Surgery introduced the most extensive global experience in breast reconstruction through microsurgery techniques like DIEP and TRAM flaps. Over the years, he has enhanced the BRAVA + AFT method, offering a more patient-friendly alternative method of prophylactic breast reconstruction. His work in advancing liposuction and lipografting has established him as a leader in implant-free breast augmentation and reconstruction post-mastectomy, contributing significantly to the field of general surgery.
